“After the Burial” concludes the “We Should Be Buried Like This” album cycle. During the writing sessions, two songs emerged that carried a lighter tone than the album’s otherwise dark atmosphere, and we felt they deserved to be released later as a separate entity. Live recordings from our latest collaboration with St. Michel Strings completed the package naturally, turning it into an EP-length continuation.

After the Burial:

Walk on Water

Heartstrings

God Has Favourites (live)

Mirage (live)

A special mention goes to acclaimed Finnish blues/rock guitarist and singer Erja Lyytinen, who delivers a beautifully nuanced performance on Heartstrings: “We knew from the very beginning that we wanted a female vocalist to bring the right kind of soulfulness and depth, and to highlight the full range of contrasts within our music.”

Erja Lyytinen comments about the cooperation: ”When I was asked to join, I knew the level and quality with this band would be high. The song immediately felt like a world-class hit: the production is massive and grand, and the story is striking, moving between something ethereal and clear into a heavy, dark metal drive.

It was a pleasure to add multiple guitar parts throughout the track. This is also the first metal song in my career where I perform lead vocals. The song has it all: emotion, drama, storytelling, dynamics, and some of the finest elements of metal music, topped off with slide guitar.”

Following the dark and hopeless themes of “We Should Be Buried Like This,” “After the Burial” slightly turns its gaze toward the light.
